FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
how do i navigate d.c.?
d.c. is organized into four "quadrants" -- northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast -- with the u.s. capitol at the center. our wedding venue and hotels are located in the NW quadrant (in a neighborhood called "logan circle"), which is where most people eat, shop, and work. whenever you look at a street address, make sure to note the quadrant so you don't end up in the wrong one. (this is also important to keep in mind when giving a taxi driver your destination).
where do i park?
there are basically two options we'd recommend. first, you can drive to a metro station in the suburbs of either virginia or maryland, park your car there, and take the metro into the city. alternatively, you can pay to park your car at your hotel. parking at a hotel will be most convenient, but it's more expensive and would of course involve driving in the city. parking at a metro station will cost less (it varies by station, up to $5/day), but you will then need to ride the metro or take a taxi/uber/lyft to your hotel. you can find a list of all metro stations with parking lots here.
how do i get around?
metro: riding the metro is safe, simple, and inexpensive. check out this rider guide for tons of great information on how to use the system. the wedding venue is a short (10-15 minutes) walk to several metro stops, including: mcpherson square (blue, orange, and silver lines), dupont circle (red line), and u street/african-american civil war memorial/cardozo (green and yellow lines). so, if you're staying in a hotel near the venue, you'll have plenty of options to get around using the metro. (note: if you stay in a hotel where we have a room block, you'll be less than a five-minute walk to the wedding venue).
taxis: you can easily get around d.c. by hailing a taxi from any busy street. you can also use lyft, which allows you to order a ride through an app on your phone.
walking: d.c. is a very walkable city, as long as it's not too hot outside. check google maps to see if your destination is close enough to walk.
